FAQ: How to Use Multiple Inventories
Our 1.2 release brings more ways to organize your home, office, home office, and more!
Create A New Inventory
If you’re already started in MyShelf, then you already have your first inventory set up! From your inventory page, click on the menu button (three dots) in the top right corner and choose “Add Inventory”.
If you are a MyShelf Unlimited user, then you will be brought to the Add Inventory page where you can name your new inventory, add an address and photos. Once you click create, you have a whole new shelf to fill! If you have not subscribed to MyShelf Unlimited yet, you will be prompted to do so before adding your second inventory.
To get back to see your other inventories, you can use the new back arrow or double tap on the “Inventory” button at the bottom left to bring you to the main inventories screen.
Why Use A Separate Inventory?
Give your spaces their space! Keep the inside of your home separate from your garage, so you can share your garage with your neighbor. Keep the office separate from the home for better organization. Essentially, compartmentalize your spaces any way you see fit.
Moving Between Inventories
Packing up the holiday decorations to go back to the storage unit? You can easily move your items between inventories to always know where they are stored. Go to the item or location you want to move, tap the menu button (three dots) in the top right corner and select “Move.” Select where you want to move it to and off it goes!
If you are organizing using our tagging feature and you want your new inventory to have the same tags as the item you are moving, simply follow the prompts after you choose the new location - we double-check with you how you want things moved and then take care of the rest.
Finding My Stuff
But can’t spreading out your stuff between inventories make it harder to find? Absolutely not! When searching in MyShelf, we will show you all relevant items from all of your inventories and even tell you which inventory it is in, so you can quickly and easily find that hammer wherever it may be.
